MCW Engineering Visit

Happy New Year!

Hopefully your 2010 is off to a great start. Price’s year has already been busy and filled with visits to Price Research Center North. Today’s video blog shows an interview and some clips from the latest visit from Toronto’s MCW Consultants Ltd. MCW is doing a lot of work with the government of Nunavut, Canada. MCW’s website explains:

“The 39 government buildings in the capital of Canada’s newest territory consume $5.5 million of energy and water annually. MCW will be providing a savings-guaranteed and fully-financed energy performance program. The buildings include educational and health care facilities, office buildings, and residential buildings in the city of Iqaluit. This program is a key component of the Nunavut Energy Management Program and the Save 10 initiative.”

It sounds like a very challenging and exciting project, so Price was very happy that MCW visited Price Research Center North to do some testing for an Iqaluit educational facility. Check out the video below!

Canadian Museum for Human Rights – Glass Wall Test

Hello everyone,

It’s Friday already (the weeks seem to fly by here at the office) and I hope you all have great weekends lined up. For our friends, colleagues, and customers in the states – I hope you all have enjoyed your Thanksgivings and that you get to spend lots of time with family (or shopping all the Black Friday sales!).

Today’s post is our very first video blog! I think we are really starting off with a bang! We had a team of experts in from Germany to do some product testing at Price Research Center North. The team in the lab set up our cold room so that a huge glass window wall could be tested with -30 degree temperatures. The test was part of the development/construction of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, which is an amazing building not only for the historic value it will have inside, but for its architecture and design:

Winnipeg Museum of Human Rights - Glass Wall

A major challenge for the team building this new Winnipeg landmark is making sure that the glass walls can withstand a regular room temperature on one side, and -30 degree temperatures on the other side without having any problems (like condensation, frost, etc.). That’s where Price comes in! Check out the video below for more details on how we rigged up the huge glass wall!
