Architectural Record annually recognizes companies and agencies that produce the most effective ads in the building and design industry. For the second year in a row, Price has been chosen as a finalist. The jury that evaluates the ads is made up of architects representing firms of all sizes. The 2013 Price ad features the Gensler Office in Los Angeles, where Price Chilled Sails were selected for their energy efficiency and thermal comfort benefits. The tagline for the ad, Inspiration for those who inspire us, emphasizes Gensler’s position as a true leader in architecture and design, while also highlighting the importance of Price Chilled Sails in creating an innovative and sustainable work environment.
It’s Friday already (the weeks seem to fly by here at the office) and I hope you all have great weekends lined up. For our friends, colleagues, and customers in the states – I hope you all have enjoyed your Thanksgivings and that you get to spend lots of time with family (or shopping all the Black Friday sales!).
Today’s post is our very first video blog! I think we are really starting off with a bang! We had a team of experts in from Germany to do some product testing at Price Research Center North. The team in the lab set up our cold room so that a huge glass window wall could be tested with -30 degree temperatures. The test was part of the development/construction of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, which is an amazing building not only for the historic value it will have inside, but for its architecture and design:
A major challenge for the team building this new Winnipeg landmark is making sure that the glass walls can withstand a regular room temperature on one side, and -30 degree temperatures on the other side without having any problems (like condensation, frost, etc.). That’s where Price comes in! Check out the video below for more details on how we rigged up the huge glass wall!

It has been a very busy week in the PRCN (Price Research Center North). We had visitors from the University of Berkley in to do some research projects in the Radiant Test Chamber (video coming soon), and yesterday afternoon Price hosted some Architecture students from the University of Manitoba. The students enjoyed some presentations, and then a tour of the PRCN, complete with a real ‘hands-on’ approach to some smoke tests. Check out some photos below – they were a very energetic bunch of students!
